[Seiko Instruments Inc. News Release] August 3, 2016
SII Semiconductor Co., Ltd., an affiliate of Seiko Instruments Inc. that manufactures and sells semiconductors, will release two new series of automotive serial EEPROMs* that use the ultra-small package HSNT-8 (2030) with excellent mounting properties: the S-93CxxCD0H series (105°C products) and the S-93AxxBD0A series (125°C products). These products are ideal for applications that require space saving, such as in-vehicle cameras and keyless entry, and will also contribute to the sophistication of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) designs.
Currently, many serial EEPROMs are used in automobiles due to the increase in on-board electrical equipment, and there is a growing need for ultra-small packages to store various devices in the limited space inside the car. However, the commonly used non-lead type small packages have issues with mounting strength and automatic appearance inspection compared to types with leads exposed (outer lead type). This IC uses an ultra-small package, but because it is an outer lead type with leads exposed, it is easy to mount, has high mounting strength, and enables automatic appearance inspection after mounting. Furthermore, it is possible to use the same land pattern as the commonly used non-lead type ultra-small package 8-pin DFN.
In addition, the write speed of this IC is 4 ms (max.), one of the fastest in the industry, and the S-93CxxCD0H series (105°C products) can operate at a low voltage of 1.6 V (min.), making it suitable for the increasingly sophisticated design of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
